Xel Ha
Located about 1 hour south of Cancun outside Tulum, Xel Ha is known as the natural aquarium and one of Mexico's natural wonders. It is composed of a giant lagoon, feed from freshwater streams, which empties into the Sea. There is a barrage of caves and trails to explore as well as beaches to soak in the sun. The main activities include:
- Swimming with Dolphins
You can get up close and personal by swimming with the six dolphins that are at the park. There is an extra cost for this activity not included with the price of admission - Sea Trek
Walk across the seabed wearing something that resembles a space suit! No prior dive experience is required, and this allows you to get up close and personal with the sea creatures, including schools of stingrays that inhabit Xel-Ha - Snuba
Snuba is a mixture between Snorkeling and Scuba diving. You swim down into the water but because of a long air tube that is attached to your snorkel there is no need for all the gear of Scuba diving! - Snorkeling
What trip to a natural aquarium would be complete without some snorkeling? There are over 70 species of fresh water and sea water fish in the rivers and lagoon including yellowtails, parrotfish, surgeonfish, jackfish, sergeant majors, grunts, snappers, bonefish, stingrays, chubs, doctorfish, an occasional barracuda, Sea turtles, and manatees
Xel Ha also includes Kayaks, Bicycles, Xpa, as well as a beautiful beach. Take a visit in Ixchel's Gulf, a gem colored beautiful freshwater pool for a more intimate swim, or go deep in the Mayan caves for calmer snorkeling experience. There are also many restaurants and shops around the park. The natural aquarium is full of beautiful sights and activities, that is worth the price of admission . When visiting be aware of holidays, as it is a popular tourist location and can become quite busy. Although Xel-Ha and Xcaret are quite similar, from experience Xel-Ha has the better snorkeling and is the better park to attend.
